School of Allied Health Sciences (SoAHS) organised a specialised academic session titled “A Prosection-Based Review of Thoracic Anatomy – Understanding the Thoracic Cage with Depth.” The session was delivered by Dr Jahan Zeb, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy at KLE Society’s Institute of Dental Sciences.
Objectives of the Programme
The session was conducted with the following key objectives:

To provide an in-depth, prosection-based understanding of the thoracic cage.

To enhance students’ ability to visualise and accurately identify complex thoracic structures

The session began with a comprehensive overview of thoracic anatomy, focusing on its structural components and its vital role in protecting organs such as the heart and lungs.

The speaker emphasised the importance of early detection and regular screening in the prevention and management of breast cancer, raising significant health awareness among students.

Attention was drawn to the impact of unhealthy dietary habits on cardiovascular health, along with an explanation of the role of nitroglycerine tablets in managing cardiac chest pain.

An overview of dissection procedures was presented, highlighting the educational value of cadaveric study in enhancing the understanding of human anatomy through direct visualisation.
