Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA)
In pursuance of the National Action Plan of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru, for performance evaluation, assessment, accreditation and quality enhancement of institutions of higher education, every accredited institution is expected to establish an Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) as a mechanism for continuous quality improvement and sustenance. Quality enhancement is a continuous process, and the IQAC works towards institutionalizing a systematic approach to quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime responsibility of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the overall performance of the institution. It coordinates and monitors quality initiatives and facilitates the institution's efforts towards academic excellence and continuous improvement.
The Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) is established in accordance with the applicable UGC regulations and guidelines for Higher Education Institutions offering Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and/or Online Programmes. The CIQA is responsible for facilitating and monitoring the quality assurance mechanisms related to such programmes. It undertakes activities relating to quality monitoring, academic and administrative processes, learner support, programme delivery, self-evaluation and continuous quality improvement, as applicable to the programmes offered by the University.
The IQAC and CIQA work as complementary quality assurance mechanisms, with IQAC focusing on institutional quality enhancement and sustenance, and CIQA focusing on quality assurance and continuous improvement in ODL/Online education, wherever applicable.
