Programme Educational Objectives

PO1: Critical and Analytical Competence- Graduates will demonstrate advanced critical thinking, analytical, and interpretive abilities to examine texts, human behaviour, ideas, and social phenomena within their cultural, historical, and socio-political contexts.

PO2: Research, Communication, and Ethical Practice- Graduates will apply rigorous research methodologies, effective academic and professional communication, and ethical reasoning in scholarly inquiry, professional practice, and civic engagement.

PO3: Interdisciplinary Integration- Graduates will integrate perspectives from liberal arts and behavioural sciences to develop holistic and interdisciplinary approaches for understanding and addressing complex societal issues.

PO4: Global and Social Responsibility- Graduates will exhibit global awareness, social responsibility, intellectual integrity, and adaptability, enabling successful progression to higher education, research, and diverse professional careers.

The M.A. English programme with specialisations in Digital Humanities, Cultural Studies, Creative Writing and Educational Leadership and Management is a two-year postgraduate degree designed to deepen your expertise in literature and interdisciplinary humanistic studies.

You can choose from four specialist pathways:

  • Digital Humanities – exploring digital technologies in the study of literature and culture;
  • Cultural Studies – analysing cultural texts, identities and social practices;

Creative Writing – developing advanced writing craft and creative expression;

The programme covers core graduate-level English and humanities topics, combining theoretical and practical approaches to literature, culture and communication. You will also undertake specialised modules within your chosen track. A dissertation or substantial research project is typically included in the final semester.

Prospective students are usually expected to hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. Specific eligibility details, such as minimum marks and admission procedures, are provided by the university’s admissions office.

Graduates of the M.A. English with specialisations can pursue roles in academia, research, publishing, content creation, digital media and communication, cultural programming, creative writing, leadership and organisational roles in education, as well as further doctoral study.
