The curriculum also includes elective courses, industrial practice components, and emerging topics in the oil and gas industry, such as sustainable energy development, digital oil fields, CCUS (carbon capture, utilization, and storage), energy transition, etc. It also incorporates courses related to unconventional energy resources like coal bed methane, shale gas, and gas hydrates. Notably, theoretical lectures are complemented by laboratory experiments, leveraging cutting-edge equipment and software in the department's state-of-the-art facilities.
Under the guidance of experienced faculty, students gain a comprehensive understanding of engineering principles in exploration, drilling, reservoir management, production, surface operations, and management.
The program equips students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue higher education or embark on careers in industries or research and development (R&D) organizations. The success of our students in the petroleum engineering courses is evident through their on-campus and off-campus placements in reputable public sector undertakings (PSUs) and multinational corporations (MNCs). Furthermore, our students have continued the department's legacy by securing opportunities for higher education at foreign universities. As a whole, the department is dedicated to fostering the holistic development of its students.
