Student Wellness, Counselling & Therapy

Health Facilities

The campus has a medical center on its premises for the benefit of its students and personnel. Manipal Hospitals provides medical officers, which include a doctor and nurse. While the doctor is available during working hours, the nurse is on duty until 9 p.m.

The medical center has basic life support and 10 beds for inpatient treatment. There are two wheelchairs available in every block of the university, and in case of any emergency, there is a 24-hour ambulance service available on site and in the hostels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Counseling is a safe space where you can talk about things that are on your mind. It could be stress, confusion, relationships, emotions, or anything else affecting you. The counselor listens without judging and helps you understand what you are going through and find healthier ways to deal with it.

Any student currently studying at Presidency University can register and use the counseling service.

No. You don’t need a major crisis to seek counseling. Many students come just to talk about stress, confusion, decision making, or things they are trying to understand about themselves.

If something is bothering you and you feel it might help to talk about it, that is reason enough.

Yes. What you share in counseling stays private between you and the counselor.

Your information will not be shared with teachers, departments, parents, or friends without your permission. The only exception is in rare situations where someone’s safety is at risk.

No. Your counseling sessions are private and will not be shared with your academic department or faculty.

The first session is simply a conversation. The counselor will try to understand what brings you to counseling and what you would like help with. You do not have to prepare anything. You can speak freely and share only what you feel comfortable sharing.

That is completely okay. Many students feel this way at the beginning. The counselor will guide the conversation and help you explore what you are feeling. You don’t need the “right words” to start.

That feeling is very common. Talking to someone new about personal things can feel uncomfortable at first. The counselor’s role is to make the space comfortable and supportive so that you can talk at your own pace.

A typical counseling session lasts around 45–60 minutes.

You can book a session by filling out the Counseling Registration Form on this website. After you submit the form, the counselor will contact you through your university email to schedule your appointment.

Yes. Some students come for one session, while others may attend multiple sessions depending on their needs. This can be discussed with the counselor during your sessions.

It’s okay to be unsure. The first session can simply be a space to talk and see if counseling feels helpful for you. There is no pressure to continue if you feel it is not the right fit.

Building a Healthy Campus Culture

It's perfectly OK to ask for expert assistance if students find it tough and burdensome to handle things. A professional can assist in finding a positive solution to the problems.
