ROAD SAFETY EVENT
In continuation of its commitment to community welfare, the NSS Cell of Presidency University organised an impactful Road Safety Awareness Programme at the Institute of Traffic Training and Road Safety, Jakkur. As part of this initiative, 30 dedicated NSS volunteers actively participated in spreading important road safety messages among students and the public, emphasising the significance of responsible behaviour on roads.
The programme commenced with an informative welcome session by officials from the Traffic Training Institute, who shared real-life scenarios, explained traffic rules, and highlighted the importance of following safety measures to prevent accidents. This was followed by an engaging chit-pick activity, where participants randomly selected chits containing questions or tasks related to road safety, such as identifying traffic signs, explaining safety rules, demonstrating hand signals, and discussing common causes of accidents. This activity made learning interactive and enjoyable while reinforcing essential traffic knowledge.
To provide volunteers with a real-time understanding of road situations, the officials conducted a simulation-based activity using their advanced setup. Volunteers experienced virtual driving scenarios, learned about traffic challenges, and understood how quick decision-making plays a crucial role in preventing accidents. This hands-on experience helped them realise the consequences of careless driving, the importance of lane discipline, and the need for constant alertness on the road.
The programme concluded with an open discussion session, where officials, volunteers, and students shared insights on road discipline, safe driving practices, and the collective responsibility of citizens in creating safer roads. This interactive exchange further strengthened awareness and deepened the understanding of road safety in everyday life.
The entire event was smoothly coordinated by Sahil Nilesh Gajabi, whose dedicated efforts ensured the programme was conducted efficiently and achieved its intended objectives. His coordination effectively bridged the gap between the volunteers and the institute, resulting in a meaningful and educational experience for all participants.
Through these engaging activities and practical learning experiences, the Road Safety Awareness Programme successfully highlighted the importance of vigilance, discipline, and responsibility, truly reflecting the spirit of community involvement in making roads safer for everyone.
