NATIONAL CADET CORPS

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Army Wing was established at Presidency University in 2021, under the aegis of the 3 Kar Battalion, Bengaluru. The NCC cadet strength at Presidency University comprises one company of 160 cadets, including both male and female participants. The unit is overseen by Veteran Col. P.L. Jayram, Director – Student Discipline and Sports, a CTO (Caretaker Officer) Dr. N. S. Nandish & a Girl Cadet Administrator.

Shaping Responsible Citizens

The NCC enhances the awareness level of cadets to become responsible citizens of the country and encourages them to enrich their knowledge, develop communication skills, and build character.

Activities and Training

Cadets participate in a wide range of activities including social outreach, community development programmes, and adventure training. These activities help nurture leadership qualities, teamwork, and risk-taking abilities.

Ambassadors of the Nation

The NCC also provides a platform to launch “Goodwill Ambassadors,” projecting the positive image of the country overseas.

2021

Foundation Established

In 2021, Dr. YN Narashima Raja founded Presidency University’s NCC 1A Company as CTO and became its first ANO, starting with 54 cadets. This key milestone laid the foundation for NCC activities at the university, promoting leadership, discipline, and national service among students.

2023

Research Support Expansion

In 2023, 51 new cadets joined Presidency University NCC, completing a full company. In 2024, cadets led by JUO Nithin participated in the State Republic Day Rally at Manekshaw Parade Ground and won first position, highlighting their dedication and skill.

2025

NCC Growth and Mountaineering Success

In 2025, Presidency University’s NCC added a feather to its wing with CDT Meghnath S and CPL Sreeranjani representing the university at the Republic Day Camp in New Delhi. CPL Sreeranjani impressed in the Cultural Contingent and met the Vice President, while CDT Meghnath S earned 3rd place at the Idea and Innovation Camp for the Battlefield Assistance System project and met the Chief of Defence Staff.

2022

NCC Growth and Mountaineering Success

In 2022, an additional 55 cadets joined the Presidency University NCC 1A Company, increasing the total strength to 99 cadets. The following year, SUO R Rohith was awarded Best Student of the 81 Mountaineering Adventure Course, marking a proud achievement for the unit.

2024

First Batch Pass-out and Gold Medal Triumph

In 2024, the first NCC batch at Presidency University passed out, and a new batch of 55 cadets was inducted. SUO Sameera K R brought immense pride by winning the Gold Medal at the All India Thal Sainik Camp (AITSC) 2024, excelling in fieldcraft, firing, and leadership. He also attended the prestigious Indian Military Academy Attachment Camp in Dehradun, inspiring all cadets with his achievements.

The NCC is a voluntary youth organization in India that provides military training, discipline, and leadership development to school and college students.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is open to Indian students enrolled in schools or colleges with NCC units. Junior Division/Wing is for ages 13 to 18½ with 2 years of training, while Senior Division/Wing is for students up to 26 years with 3 years of training. Candidates must also meet basic medical and physical fitness standards.
NCC is not compulsory military service, but it provides a valuable pathway and preference for those aiming to join the defence services.
NCC cadets engage in military training, adventure sports, community service, cultural events, and leadership programs, shaping them into disciplined and socially responsible citizens.
NCC is government-funded, so students can join and participate without any expenses.
