About NCC

Aim of NCC

The aim of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), laid down in 1988, continues to remain relevant in today’s socio-economic scenario. It focuses on developing character, discipline, comradeship, secular outlook, the spirit of adventure, and ideals of selfless service among the youth of India.

NCC also seeks to build a pool of organized, trained, and motivated young citizens with leadership qualities who can contribute to the nation in all walks of life, regardless of their career choice. In addition, it creates an environment that encourages and inspires young Indians to join the armed forces.

Motto of NCC

The need for a motto for the National Cadet Corps was first discussed in the 11th Central Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting on 11th August 1978. Several suggestions were put forward, including “Duty and Discipline,” “Duty, Unity and Discipline,” and “Duty and Unity.”

After careful consideration, the motto “Unity and Discipline” was officially adopted during the 12th CAC meeting held on 12th October 1980. This motto reflects the core values and guiding principles of the NCC, emphasizing the importance of togetherness and self-discipline in nation-building.
