A hands-on podcast storytelling workshop was held on 1–2 September at the Media Lab, LGL07, providing students with practical, industry-relevant exposure to audio content creation. The sessions were led by Mr Talha Abbasi, Senior Producer and Writer at MnM Talkies, Mumbai, who brought valuable real-world industry insights into the classroom.

Through interactive activities, students learned how to identify engaging stories, structure compelling narratives and conduct effective interviews. The workshop also explored the creative use of voice and sound, along with strategies for producing audience-focused content that resonates with listeners.

Beyond production techniques, participants explored current trends in podcasting, ethical storytelling practices and the growing role of audio media across journalism, education and entertainment. This broader perspective helped students understand not only how to create a podcast, but also the responsibility that comes with shaping public narratives.

By combining theory with practical exposure, the workshop helped bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world industry expectations. Students strengthened their skills in creativity, digital communication and audio production — capabilities that are increasingly important for employability in today’s competitive media landscape.

As podcasting continues to grow as a storytelling medium, the workshop equipped students with the confidence, skills and ethical awareness needed to become effective content creators and prepare for careers in the media industry.
