On 28 April 2026, Presidency University formalised a strategic partnership with Local Narratives through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The initiative was led by the Presidency School of Liberal Arts and Sciences, reflecting its commitment to fostering interdisciplinary engagement and community-oriented learning.

The MoU was signed by Dr Venkateswaran S, Registrar, Presidency University, and Ms Vaishnavi Somani, Founder, Local Narratives. The signing ceremony was attended by Dr Vidya Shankar Shetty, Dr Pritha Sanyal, Dr Charitra H G, and Ms Nicole.

The collaboration is envisioned as a platform to bridge academic inquiry with grassroots storytelling practices. By bringing together the academic expertise of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the field-based narrative work of Local Narratives, the MoU seeks to enable the documentation of local histories, lived experiences, and cultural expressions. The partnership will facilitate student-led projects, workshops, internships, and collaborative research initiatives that foreground community voices and emphasise ethical storytelling.

Through this engagement, students will gain experiential learning opportunities that integrate theory with practice, while contributing to the preservation and dissemination of diverse narratives. The initiative aligns with the broader vision of liberal arts education, encouraging critical thinking, social responsibility, and meaningful engagement with the world beyond the classroom.
