School of Design (SOD) – Fashion Design organised an industrial visit to the Garment Technology Expo (GTE) 2026 on 18 September 2026, from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm at Gayatri Vihar, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru.

The visit aimed to provide Fashion Design students with first-hand exposure to the latest technologies, machinery, equipment, materials, software and innovations used in the garment and apparel industry.

During the visit, students observed contemporary industry practices and explored the application of technology across various stages of garment production. Key areas of exposure included garment manufacturing technologies, cutting, sewing, finishing, CAD/CAM, digital technologies, automation, sustainable production practices and emerging fashion technologies.

The visit also helped students connect their classroom learning with real-world industrial practices. The experience was particularly relevant to courses such as Basic Digital Tools, Garment Construction Studio, Digital Marketing in Fashion, Advanced Sewing Technique, Market Research & Trim Sourcing, Haute Couture Fashion and Visual Merchandising.

Furthermore, the visit enabled students to gain insights into the evolving needs of the fashion industry, including emerging technologies, digital business approaches, industry expectations, professional skills and career opportunities.
