The educational visit was organised for 3rd and 5th semester B.Des. Space Design students of the School of Design, Presidency University, to provide practical exposure to contemporary retail environments, experiential design, materials, branding and spatial detailing. At the Nothing Store, Indiranagar, students explored how brand identity is translated into architecture and interior design through spatial planning, circulation, product displays, lighting, material selection, furniture, signage, visual merchandising and technology integration. The visit offered insights into how minimalism, functionality, brand language and user experience come together to create an engaging retail environment.

As part of the field exposure, students also visited Rameshwaram Café, where they observed functional planning, customer movement, seating arrangements, service areas, material usage and the spatial requirements of a high-volume food-service environment. At Obteé Carpets, students gained additional exposure to carpets, textiles, patterns, textures and their applications in interior spaces. The visits complemented their academic learning in Space Design Studio, Retail Design, Materials and Finishes, Lighting Design and Interior Detailing.

Overall, the visits enabled students to connect classroom concepts with real-world design applications and understand how spatial design influences functionality, brand identity, user experience and engagement across diverse commercial environments.
