SOD Hosts Scriptwriting and Direction Workshop with Filmmaker Kamal K M
The School of Design organised a Scriptwriting and Direction Workshop on 26 October 2026, providing students with practical exposure to screenplay development and film direction. Led by filmmaker and educationist Mr Kamal K M, the workshop included a hands-on exercise in which students developed four-scene scripts and discussed their work with the resource person. The session explored scene construction, narrative development, the director’s role and responsibilities, and the design of mise-en-scène as a tool for visual storytelling.
Drawing on his professional experience in filmmaking and film education, Mr Kamal shared insights into translating creative ideas into screenplays and shaping stories through directorial decisions and visual elements. The workshop enabled students to connect theoretical concepts from the B.Sc. Multimedia curriculum with practical filmmaking processes, strengthening their understanding of screenwriting, scene design and visual narrative.
