The School of Commerce (SOC), Presidency University, Bengaluru, in association with the ISR Cell, Presidency University, organised an IBM Orientation Programme on 28 July 2026 to introduce students to the range of free certificate courses offered by IBM.

The programme was conducted by Mr Sachin Kumar Patil, IBM Resource Person, who introduced students to various IBM learning opportunities and highlighted the importance of industry-oriented certifications in enhancing professional competencies and career prospects.

The programme was led by Dr Padmavathi M., Dean, School of Commerce; Dr Saba Inamdar and Dr Poornima Karthikeyan, Heads of Department; Ms Vanitha, ISR Cell Manager; and Dr D. Vijayasree, IBM Faculty Coordinator.

During the orientation, students were introduced to the available IBM courses, their relevance to career development, the enrolment process, and the benefits of obtaining industry-recognised certifications. The session encouraged students to explore learning opportunities beyond the prescribed curriculum and acquire additional skills relevant to the contemporary business and professional environment.

The initiative provided students with opportunities to strengthen their digital, business, and professional skills, thereby enhancing their employability and career readiness. The orientation also emphasised the importance of continuous learning and staying aligned with the evolving expectations of the industry.

Through this industry–academia initiative, the School of Commerce reaffirmed its commitment to providing students with meaningful opportunities for skill development, professional growth, and industry exposure.
