February, 2026
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
;

Presidency School of Allied Health Sciences organised a two-day academic programme titled “Hands-on Insights into Cardiovascular and Respiratory Function: From Classroom Concepts to Clinical Application.”

The resource person for the programme was Dr Zeeshan Ali, Associate Professor and Medical Physiologist, Krupanidhi College of Physiotherapy.

Objectives of the Programme

The workshop was conducted with the following objectives:

  • To strengthen foundational concepts of cardiovascular and respiratory physiology.

  • To provide hands-on exposure to clinical assessment techniques.

  • To correlate physiological principles with real-world clinical scenarios.

Highlights of the Event

  • Detailed revision of cardiovascular physiology, including the cardiac cycle, haemodynamics, blood pressure regulation, and autonomic control.

  • Demonstration of clinical assessment techniques such as pulse examination, blood pressure measurement, and interpretation of heart sounds.

  • Comprehensive overview of respiratory physiology, including lung volumes, gas exchange, and control of breathing.

  • Hands-on training in respiratory assessment techniques such as chest expansion measurement and physiological breathing pattern analysis.

Participation and Coordination

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from undergraduate physiotherapy students.

Conclusion

The two-day workshop successfully achieved its objective of transforming theoretical classroom concepts into clinically applicable skills. The hands-on approach and expert guidance provided students with deeper insights into cardiopulmonary function assessment and management.

The event proved to be academically enriching and aligned with the institution’s commitment to promoting experiential and outcome-based learning.
