The Department of Physiotherapy, Presidency School of Allied Health Sciences, Presidency University, successfully organised a Guest Lecture on “Fundamentals of Exercise Therapy – Fundamental Postures and their Derived Positions in Therapeutic Exercise” on 20th February 2026 at F Block Seminar Hall 1 from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

The session was conducted with the objective of enhancing students’ understanding of fundamental exercise therapy principles and their clinical application in physiotherapy practice.

The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Srinivasulu M, Associate Professor, Vydehi Institute of Physiotherapy, Bangalore.

During the session, Dr. Srinivasulu provided detailed insights into fundamental postures, derived positions, biomechanical principles, and their therapeutic relevance in exercise prescription.

The lecture included practical clinical perspectives, interactive discussions, and demonstrations that enabled students to better understand fundamental and derived postures in rehabilitation settings. Students were also elaborated on muscle activity and biomechanical involvement in different fundamental and derived positions, while strengthening students’ understanding of the basic concepts of therapeutic exercise.

The session witnessed active participation from undergraduate physiotherapy students. The interactive nature of the lecture encouraged students to clarify clinical concepts and relate classroom learning to real-life patient management.

The guest lecture proved to be highly informative and beneficial in strengthening students’ clinical reasoning and professional competence in therapeutic exercise.
