SoAHS Cadaver Workshop: Thorax, Upper Limb, and Osteology
1st & 2nd April 2026 | 10:00 AM – 03:00 PM | Anatomy Laboratory, KLE Society’s Institute of Dental Sciences
A comprehensive Cadaver Workshop was conducted on 1st and 2nd April 2026 at KLE Society’s Institute of Dental Sciences. The workshop was led by Dr Jahan Zeb, Professor and Head of the Department of Anatomy.
The session was designed to provide students with an immersive and experiential understanding of human anatomy through direct cadaveric study.
Objectives of the Programme
The workshop was organised with the following academic objectives:
- To provide hands-on exposure to cadaveric specimens for a deeper understanding of anatomical structures
- To enhance the identification of bones and key anatomical landmarks through osteological study
- To instil ethical values, professionalism, and respect towards cadaveric study
Highlights of the Event
- The workshop commenced with a formal orientation session focusing on ethical considerations, safety protocols, and appropriate conduct within the dissection laboratory
- The thoracic region session provided a detailed demonstration of vital structures, including the heart, lungs, rib cage, and intercostal spaces
- The upper limb module offered an in-depth exploration of muscles, nerves, and vascular structures
- The osteology segment allowed students to examine bones such as the clavicle, scapula, humerus, radius, and ulna. Key anatomical landmarks, articulations, and their functional significance were clearly demonstrated, strengthening foundational anatomical knowledge
- A defining aspect of the workshop was the hands-on experience, where students actively engaged with cadaveric specimens under expert guidance
- Additionally, relevant clinical correlations—including fractures, dislocations, and common pathological conditions—were discussed
Participation and Coordination
The workshop witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from undergraduate physiotherapy students.
Conclusion
The Cadaver Workshop was an exceptionally enriching and academically valuable experience. Its successful conduct under the expert guidance of Dr Jahan Zeb reflects a strong commitment to academic excellence and the development of competent and knowledgeable healthcare professionals.
