PSOCSE Students Explore 5G Technologies at ARTPARK – ARTgarage
An educational industry visit was organised to the ARTPARK – ARTgarage facility at HMT Jalahalli to provide students with practical exposure to wired and wireless communication technologies, with a particular focus on 5G networks. The visit was conducted under the guidance of Ms Sumita Guddin, Assistant Professor, PSCS, with the support of the Head of the Department, Dr GopalKrishna Shyam, Dean Dr Duraipandian N (Dean, CSE), colleagues, and the college transportation team.
Special thanks are extended to Ms Sushmitha Keshava Devadiga, Project Assistant – Skilling Programmes, ARTPARK (IISc), for her continuous coordination and support in making the visit successful. A total of 41 participants from Presidency University, including students and faculty members, took part in the visit and gained valuable industry insights.
The session was structured around three key domains: the Skilling Programme, the Startup Programme featuring live product demonstrations, and the implementation of a 5G network within the facility. Industry experts explained the fundamentals of 5G communication, network infrastructure, and the differences between wired and wireless technologies. Students also learned how 5G networks are established using SIM-based connectivity and supporting systems.
The visit was further enriched by live demonstrations of automated car systems and drone operations, showcasing how 5G technology enables high-speed communication, low latency, and real-time control. Overall, the visit proved to be an inspiring and enriching learning experience, helping students connect academic knowledge with real-world technological applications.
