PSOCSE Hosts AWS Innovation Challenge 2026 to Foster Student Innovation
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Presidency University, Bengaluru, organised the AWS Innovation Challenge 2026, a club activity of the AWS Students Builder Group, on 29–30 September 2026 at the E Block, Fourth Floor (Old Prayer Hall). The 30-hour hackathon brought together 100 students, supported by eight faculty members and 45 external participants. Convened by Dr Duraipandian N, with Dr Jayanthi Kamalasekaran and Dr Bhuvaneshwari Patil as coordinators, the event encouraged students to develop innovative, technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.
The challenge focused on five themes: Open Innovation, Healthcare, Generative AI, Cybersecurity and Smart Education. Participants worked collaboratively to develop prototypes and minimum viable products, gaining practical exposure to cloud computing, software development and emerging technologies. Mentorship and technical guidance supported the teams throughout the event, while the challenge promoted teamwork, rapid prototyping, problem-solving, time management and technical communication. The event also aimed to strengthen awareness of AWS cloud services and encourage active participation in the campus AWS Students Builder Group.
The AWS Innovation Challenge 2026 provided a platform for students to apply their technical knowledge creatively, collaborate across disciplines and explore practical solutions to contemporary problems. Participant feedback highlighted the value of hands-on learning, problem selection and support from the organising team, while identifying opportunities to improve Wi-Fi connectivity, seating, refreshments and resting facilities. The insights gained will help inform future editions and support the continued growth of the campus innovation community.
