The School of Computer Science and Engineering (PSCS) organised Sophomore Day 2026, an orientation programme for second-year students, on 13 and 14 August 2026 at the Auditorium. With 1,000 students participating across the two days, the programme was designed to provide students with a clear understanding of academic expectations, course planning, assessment procedures and opportunities for technical and professional development. The sessions introduced students to the Dean, Heads of Departments and faculty members, along with their respective roles and channels of academic and student support.

The orientation covered key areas including Continuous Assessment (CA), Continuous Performance (CP), attendance, credits, CGPA, course registration, industry-recognised certifications, academic and capstone projects, internships, hackathons, the Smart India Hackathon (SIH), student clubs and professional chapters. Students were encouraged to complement classroom learning with technical skills, projects and co-curricular activities, while beginning early preparation for internships, placements and long-term career goals. Interactive discussions provided an opportunity for students to clarify queries related to academics, assessments, projects, certifications, internships, placements and student activities.

The programme encouraged students to take greater ownership of their academic performance, skill development and career preparation. Feedback from participants indicated that the orientation was informative and useful, particularly the guidance on academic planning, CGPA, certifications, internships, projects and extracurricular opportunities. Dr Duraipandian N., Dean, PSCS, served as the Convener, with Dr Nagaraja S R, Dr Asif Mohamed H. B., Dr Gopal Krishna Shyam and Dr Pallavi R. as Co-Convenors. The programme was coordinated by Dr Vidhya R., Dr Amritha Preeya, Mr Kirubakaran and Mr Senthil.
