PSAIAC Hosts Session on Product Thinking in Engineering
The Presidency School of Artificial Intelligence & Advanced Computing (PSAIAC), in association with the Department of Cyber Security and Intelligent Systems, organised an insightful session titled “Beyond Code: The Power of Product Thinking in Engineering” on 23 October 2026 at LSL04, Presidency University.
The session was delivered by Mr Shaik Mohammad Abdullah, Senior Software Engineer at karya.in, who highlighted the importance of moving beyond code-centric development towards user-focused, product-driven engineering.
Drawing on practical industry examples, including food delivery applications and WhatsApp’s double blue ticks, the resource person demonstrated how understanding user needs, usability and real-world impact plays a crucial role in building successful products.
The session covered key concepts such as the three pillars of product engineering, the Feasible–Viable–Desirable framework, Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), rapid prototyping and the evolving role of engineers in the age of Artificial Intelligence. An interactive activity on designing a better alarm clock encouraged students to identify real-world problems before developing solutions.
The programme offered students valuable industry perspectives and practical insights into building meaningful, scalable and user-centric technology solutions.
The session witnessed the participation of 66 students, along with faculty members. It concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, followed by the felicitation of the resource person by the faculty coordinators, Dr Manju More E, Associate Professor, and Ms Padma T G, Assistant Professor.
