The NSS Cell successfully organised a One-Day Camp on 12 September 2026 in the Nrityagram and Hesaraghatta region, with the active participation of 41 NSS volunteers. The programme began at the State Livestock Breeding and Training Centre, Hesaraghatta, where the volunteers were divided into two teams for field activities.

The camp was conducted under the guidance of NSS Faculty Coordinator Ms Renuka Bhagwat, with support from NSS Student Coordinators Subham Kumar and Ms Vidanshi, and Farmers for Forests Coordinator Athul.

The first half of the camp focused on a cleanliness drive conducted in collaboration with the Lions Club, Farmers for Forests, and the Karnataka Forest Department. Team 1 worked at the Hesaraghatta Grassland, while Team 2 carried out clean-up activities in the forest area near Nrityagram. Volunteers collected and segregated plastic, glass, and other miscellaneous waste, resulting in the removal of 42 bags of waste. This collective effort contributed to environmental conservation and promoted greater community awareness.

In the second half, volunteers gathered at Nrityagram for cultural and educational activities. Officials from the Karnataka Forest Department conducted an awareness session on wildlife conservation, including a demonstration involving rescued snakes. Participants also witnessed a renowned Odissi dance performance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Nrityagram.

The camp concluded with a nature walk, during which students explored native trees, plant species, butterflies, and the ecological significance of the habitat.

Overall, the camp provided a meaningful blend of environmental service, wildlife awareness, cultural appreciation, and nature education, making it an enriching experience for all involved.
