International Webinar on “AI-Assisted Design” by Mr. Asterios Agkathidis
The School of Engineering, Presidency University, organised an international webinar on “AI Assisted Design” on 12 February 2026 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM (IST) via MS Teams. The session was conducted for UG and PG Civil Engineering students across all semesters and was organised by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with the Office of International Affairs and the University of Liverpool, UK. The webinar aimed to introduce students to the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in architectural and engineering design, highlighting emerging digital workflows and global academic opportunities.
The session was delivered by Mr. Asterios Agkathidis, an internationally recognised architect, researcher and educator. He currently serves as Senior Lecturer in Digital Design and Programme Director for the MA in Advanced Architecture at the University of Liverpool, UK, and is a registered architect in both the UK and Greece. With extensive expertise in AI-assisted design, robotics, parametric and generative design, and digital fabrication technologies, Mr. Agkathidis has authored several books, including his recent publication AI-Assisted Architectural Design (2024). His presentation provided valuable insights into the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and contemporary architectural design practices.
During the webinar, Mr. Agkathidis introduced participants to the School of Architecture at the University of Liverpool, highlighting its heritage, facilities, research-led teaching approach, and postgraduate study opportunities. A key highlight of the session was the explanation of AI-assisted design workflows, including data collection, prompt-based design generation, form exploration, and the conversion of images into 3D models. Through a live demonstration using various AI tools and modelling platforms, he illustrated how AI can be applied beyond visualisation to support form generation and advanced modelling. The webinar provided students with valuable exposure to computational design, BIM integration, digital fabrication, and AI-driven architectural workflows.
