Event Summary

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Presidency School of Engineering, organised an industrial visit to the Power Grid at Somanahalli, Bengaluru, for students of 6EEE01 (Boys).

The visit offered practical exposure to high-voltage power transmission systems and substation operations. Students observed the functioning of 400 kV and 220 kV transmission equipment, gaining first-hand insight into large-scale power system infrastructure. Experienced engineers from the Power Grid explained grid operation, protection schemes, and safety practices, emphasising the importance of reliability and safety in power system management.

This industrial visit enabled students to understand real-time power flow, grid stability, and operational challenges, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications. Overall, the visit significantly enhanced students’ technical knowledge, industry awareness, and understanding of modern power systems.
