Felicitation Programme for the Foundation Course in Spanish
Bangalore, 25 August 2026 — As part of the Even Semester, Presidency University conducted a 30-hour Foundation Course in Spanish for faculty members, aimed at preparing them for global academic and career opportunities.
The course commenced in April and concluded in July 2026. It introduced participants to the structure, relevance and international significance of the Spanish language, which can be a valuable qualification for those aspiring to study or work in Spain.
The programme was facilitated by Ms Pooja B V, an in-house faculty member specialising in Spanish. She brought extensive subject expertise and practical strategies to the programme. The sessions provided an overview of the four core skills assessed at CEFR A1 level—Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking—and included practical guidance for developing each skill.
The Foundation Course equipped participants with introductory-level knowledge of Spanish, providing a strong foundation for progressing to higher levels of proficiency.
Beyond language and grammar, the course emphasised the importance of understanding Spanish culture and the broader benefits of learning the language. Participants also gained insights into the relevance of Spanish for pursuing higher education at international universities, exploring postdoctoral opportunities, and accessing global employment and mobility opportunities.
Faculty members actively participated in interactive discussions, engaged with practical examples and benefited from enriching conversations throughout the programme.
The successful completion of the course marks an important milestone for Presidency University, with this cohort becoming the first batch to complete the Foundation Course in Spanish certification programme. The initiative reflects the University’s commitment to providing international skill-building opportunities and nurturing globally competent graduates and professionals.
The Foundation Course in Spanish serves as a stepping stone towards encouraging participants and members of other Schools to pursue language learning and broaden their global academic and professional horizons.
