ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENTS
;

The Department of Mathematics at Presidency University successfully organised and conducted Model2Solve 2026, an application-oriented mathematical modelling competition that connected classroom mathematics with real-world challenges.

Event Highlights

The competition covered a range of mathematical and computational approaches, including:

  • Turning real-world problems into mathematical models

  • Differential equations, linear algebra, probability and statistics, optimisation, numerical methods and vector calculus

  • Computational tools such as Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, GeoGebra and Excel

  • AI-assisted modelling for prediction and optimisation

  • Applications in energy, healthcare, transportation, finance, sustainability and other domains

Participation

The event brought together 76 students from the School of Engineering (SOE), School of Computer Science and Engineering (SOCSE), and School of Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity (SOAIAC), along with 38 faculty members.

Teams identified real-world problems, formulated assumptions, developed and validated mathematical models, and presented their solutions to a panel of evaluators. Through the process, students strengthened their analytical thinking, teamwork, creativity, communication and research skills.

“Model2Solve 2026 provided an excellent opportunity to explore mathematics beyond textbooks.”
— Participant

Congratulations to all the winners and participants for their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment.

The Department of Mathematics extends its sincere thanks to Dr N Shilpa, Professor & HoD, Convenor, and Faculty Coordinators Dr K Govindarajulu and Dr Nagendramma for their efforts in organising and coordinating the event.
