The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the Forum of Civil Engineering, ACCE (I) – Student Chapter, and Alumni Association of Presidency University (AAPU), successfully organised Alumni Mentorship Session–1 on Career Guidance on 9 September 2026, from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. The session was held on the theme ‘Bridging the Gap Between Engineering Education and Construction Industry Practice’.

The event was conducted in the presence of the Head of the Department, Dr Nakul Ramanna, along with faculty members and students.

The session featured Mr Jagannatha B. S., Project Engineer, Singapore, an MSc graduate in Structural Engineering & Concrete Materials. As a distinguished alumnus, he shared valuable insights from his academic and professional journey and guided students on developing technical competence, practical exposure, communication skills, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, and professional confidence.

The interaction provided students with practical insights into surveying, engineering drawings, structural and concrete works, CAD/GIS applications, quality control, safety practices, project planning, documentation, coordination, and project management.

Students were encouraged to enhance their employability through internships, technical projects, workshops, industry exposure, professional networking, and continuous learning. The session emphasised that academic qualifications alone are not sufficient for career success, highlighting the importance of strong engineering fundamentals, digital skills, communication, teamwork, and industry awareness.

The event was coordinated by faculty members Mr Gopalakrishnan, Mr Dayalan J, and Mr Santhosh M B, whose efforts ensured the smooth and successful conduct of the programme.
