The Department of Petroleum Engineering, Presidency School of Engineering, organised an Industry Talk titled “Oil and Gas Industry in the Era of Energy Transition: Challenges and Emerging Opportunities” as part of the 1st Year B.Tech. Petroleum Engineering Orientation Programme on 4 August 2026, from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Seminar Hall 4.

The session was delivered by Mr Prakash Kamble, Programme Manager, Quest Global, Bengaluru. He provided students with an overview of India’s growing oil and gas sector, covering its upstream, midstream and downstream activities, as well as emerging career opportunities.

The session highlighted key industry challenges, including import dependence, ageing fields and rising energy demand, while also exploring developments in digitalisation, artificial intelligence, hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS), biofuels and the broader energy transition. The resource person also discussed career pathways, work locations and employment opportunities across operating companies, oilfield service companies and Global Capability Centres (GCCs).

The session was attended by first-year B.Tech. Petroleum Engineering students and faculty members. Mr Kamble appreciated the students’ active participation and noted their curiosity and keen interest, reflected in the several relevant and insightful questions raised during the session.
