SOC Organises Stress-to-Strength Well-being Sessions
In observance of World Health Day, the StoS: Stress to Strength programme was successfully organised on 9 April 2026 as a collaborative initiative between the Presidency School of Commerce (PSoC) and the Presidency School of Allied Health Sciences (PSoAHS). The event aimed to promote awareness of stress management and overall well-being among faculty members.
Leadership and Coordination
The programme was conducted under the guidance of the Convenors, Dr Saba Inamdar, HoD In-Charge, PSoC, and Dr Manashi Dey, HoD, PSoAHS. The initiative was effectively coordinated by Dr Mohammed Nabeel K, Assistant Professor, PSoC, and Dr Richa Singh (PT), Assistant Professor, PSoAHS.
Innovative Outreach Approach
Adopting a unique and engaging outreach model, a team of eight student volunteers—four from each school—visited various departments across the campus between 2:30 pm and 4:00 pm. Faculty members were engaged through short, interactive 15-minute sessions conducted in staff rooms, ensuring maximum participation without disrupting their schedules.
Programme Highlights
Each session focused on:
- Awareness of stress and its impact on mental and physical health
- Live demonstrations of practical stress management techniques, including:
- Breathing exercises
- Relaxation methods
- Posture correction
Students from the School of Allied Health Sciences led the demonstrations, drawing on their domain expertise, while Commerce students played a crucial role in coordination—facilitating movement across departments, distributing awareness materials, and collecting feedback.
Impact and Appreciation
The initiative received widespread appreciation from faculty members for its interactive, collaborative, and practical approach. The programme effectively fostered awareness of mental and physical well-being, reinforcing the university’s commitment to creating a healthy and supportive campus environment.
Conclusion
The StoS: Stress to Strength programme stands as a testament to the power of interdisciplinary collaboration and student engagement in promoting holistic well-being. By transforming awareness into actionable practices, the initiative successfully contributed to building a healthier and more resilient academic community.
