School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Presidency School of Liberal Arts and Sciences stands as a vibrant academic ecosystem where intellectual curiosity meets global consciousness. The school reimagines learning as an expansive, fluid, and multidisciplinary journey.

Designed as a dynamic academic and cultural forum, the conclave will bring together students, faculty, and distinguished speakers to engage with pressing contemporary issues through the rich perspectives of the humanities, performing arts, and social sciences.
Relevance To Curriculum (SoLAS)

Palimpsest is closely aligned with the interdisciplinary philosophy of the liberal arts curriculum. Performance-based approaches enable students to move beyond textual analysis into practice-led learning. Theatre, in particular, offers a powerful medium.

The conclave will address broad and interconnected themes central to liberal arts education. Indicative topics include:

The conclave is expected to result in meaningful academic and personal development for participants. Students will develop enhanced critical thinking, communication, and collaborative skills through engagement with experts, peers, and performative processes. Exposure to theatre-based practices will foster confidence, empathy, creativity, and embodied understanding, enriching their overall learning experience. Networking opportunities with invited speakers and faculty are expected to stimulate future academic collaborations and student initiatives. INAUGURAL SPEAKERS

Abhaya Simha is an acclaimed Indian filmmaker and screenwriter known for his meaningful storytelling and cinematic finesse. An alumnus of FTII, Pune, he gained recognition with his debut film Gubbachigalu (2008), which won the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film. His diverse filmography includes Shikari (2012) and Paddayi (2018), the latter earning a National Award for Best Tulu Film. Through CineSouls Production, he continues to create impactful films that blend cultural depth with artistic innovation.

Manasi Prasad is a combination of an accomplished singer, eloquent orator and arts manager. She is one of the best-known faces among the new generation of Carnatic musicians. Numerous awards have come her way, including the prestigious Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from Government of India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ananya Yuva Puraskar from Ananya Bengaluru, ‘Yuva Kalaakar Puraskar’ (Young Artist Award) from Sri Shanmukhananda Fine Arts, Mumbai and the Rotary- Brigade Young Achievers award.
