Workshop on Media and AI Literacy

23-September-2025

Presidency School of Liberal Arts and Sciences conducted an insightful workshop titled “Media & Artificial Intelligence Literacy” for M.Sc. Psychology students on September 23, 2025. The session was led by Dr. Ashish Sharma, HoD, Presidency School of Media Studies. The session aimed to equip students with critical skills to navigate the complex media landscape and understand the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in everyday life.

Dr. Sharma introduced students to media literacy and insights on comprehending media messages and bias through activities and real-life examples. He elaborated on how to differentiate between fake news, misinformation, and disinformation through examples. Students explored machine learning, algorithms, and AI’s role in daily life, including deepfakes and algorithmic bias. Dr. Sharma emphasised responsible media use, critical thinking, and ethical digital participation.

The workshop was an enriching experience for the students as it bridged the gap between media studies and technology, fostering awareness about the interplay of AI and communication.
