The Criminal Law Committee, Presidency School of Law , organised a National Essay Writing Competition in 2025, centered on the theme "Critical Analysis of the New Criminal Codes of India." The competition invited entries from law students, research scholars, and legal professionals across the country, aiming to encourage critical thinking and scholarly engagement with recent legal reforms. Sub-themes included tribal rights, environmental offenses, religious crimes, corporate culpability, and the impact of amendments on organized crime and terrorism. Participants submitted original essays of 2,000–3,000 words, with the top entries receiving cash prizes and certificates. The initiative served as a platform for meaningful discourse on India's evolving criminal justice landscape.
