Presidency University Bangalore was pleased to welcome a distinguished academic delegation from the University of Sydney, Australia, bringing global perspectives and disciplinary expertise directly into our classrooms.

 

Professor Sophie Chao, Senior Lecturer in Anthropology and Chair of Discipline, led a masterclass for students of the Presidency School of Liberal Arts & Sciences titled “Taking People Seriously: Anthropology as a Pathway for Understanding Culture and Difference in Times of Crisis.” The session encouraged students to explore culture and difference with greater depth and sensitivity.

 

Students from the Presidency School of Media Studies (PSOMS) also engaged with Professor Susan Potter, Senior Lecturer in Film Studies and Associate Dean – External Engagement, for a session on “The Director as Auteur”, offering insights into cinematic authorship and creative vision.

 

Both sessions provided students with an opportunity to engage directly with international academics and gain perspectives rooted in their respective fields.

 

The visit also opened new possibilities for collaboration, with both institutions exploring live, connected classrooms that could bring Presidency University and University of Sydney students together in real time.
