Three-Day Master Class on Colour Theory & Perspective
Presidency School of Design organised a three-day master class on “Colour Perspective” from November 17 to 19, 2025. The master class aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of colour theory, visual perception, perspective drawing, and their applications in design-based communication.
The sessions were conducted by Ms. Veena Kotian Thimmaiah, Assistant Professor & HOD, Fashion & Apparel Design, Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD).
She covered the following modules in three days.
Day 1: Introduction to colour theory, colour schemes, warm–cool dynamics, tints, shades, tones, and colour harmony systems.
Day 2: Fundamentals of one-point and two-point perspective, atmospheric perspective, depth creation, and spatial understanding in design layouts.
Day 3: Application-based creative exercises combining colour and perspective to develop expressive work with emphasis on mood, hierarchy, and narrative.
Ms. Thimaiah also demonstrated techniques through live demonstrations, guiding students on observation, colour application, visual balance, and composition-building for impactful design outcomes.
The masterclass encouraged product design students to engage in interactive participation, peer learning, and creative exploration.
