SOMS Hosts Eco-Lens 2026 Inter-University Photography Competition

15-May-2026

The Presidency School of Media Studies (PSOMS), Presidency University, Bangalore, is proud to announce the successful conclusion of Eco-Lens 2026. Hosted in celebration of World Film Photography Day on April 15, in collaboration with the Photography Club of Presidency University, this inter-university competition brought together 52 students from across India to explore a vital theme: “The Intersection of Nature and Humanity.”

Participants used their lenses to document the raw and nuanced realities of harmony, conflict, and our shared environmental resilience.

The Eco-Lens Exhibition
A curated selection of 33 shortlisted photographs was showcased in the Management Block, transforming the corridor into a gallery of social commentary. These frames were not just images; they were tools for advocacy, proving that visual storytelling remains a cornerstone of environmental stewardship and public discourse.

Celebrating Excellence
We are delighted to honour the winners who balanced technical mastery—lighting, composition, and timing—with profound thematic depth:

1st Place: Vardaan Sharma (Chandigarh University)
2nd Place: S. Nitin Paranav (Presidency University, Bangalore)
3rd Place: Earnest Joel Sujimon A. (Marian College, Kuttikanam)

At PSOMS, we are committed to nurturing socially conscious storytellers. Congratulations to all participants for reminding us of the enduring power of the “single frame” in the digital age.
