SOM Signs Strategic MoU with i2P2M to Advance Project Management Education
Presidency University, Bengaluru, through the Presidency School of Management (SOM), has entered into a strategic partnership with the International Institute of Projects and Program Management (i2P2M) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen project management education, professional certification, research, innovation and industry–academia collaboration.
The MoU establishes a structured framework to develop globally relevant project management competencies among students and faculty.
Prior to the signing ceremony, Dr Adesh Jain, Chairman of i2P2M and a globally recognised thought leader in project and programme management, met with Dr Nissar Ahmed, Chancellor of Presidency University and Chairman of the Presidency Group of Institutions, along with Dr Dinesh Nilkant, Provost of Presidency University. During the meeting, Dr Jain presented his acclaimed book, Assorted Thoughts on Project Management, and discussed the growing importance of project management as a strategic capability for higher education institutions and future professionals. He is widely recognised for his contributions to the field, including serving on the NITI Aayog Task Force on Project & Program Management and promoting project management education globally.
An interactive session followed, outlining the objectives of the collaboration and the roadmap for integrating project management education into the University's academic ecosystem. Discussions focused on enhancing employability, leadership capabilities and industry readiness through globally aligned project management practices, while encouraging students to pursue the Certificate in Project Management (CIPM). The session also explored faculty development initiatives, collaborative research, workshops, seminars, guest lectures, AI-driven project management practices and industry engagement activities.
The MoU was formally signed in the Presidency University Board Room, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between the two institutions. Under the agreement, both organisations will jointly promote project management education, facilitate certification pathways, organise conferences and workshops, undertake collaborative research, develop case studies and strengthen industry–academia engagement. The partnership also supports faculty development through specialised training aligned with the NITI Aayog-recommended Project Management syllabus and encourages MBA students to pursue the ISO 17024:2012-accredited Certificate in Project Management (CIPM).
