Day 7 of the MBA Orientation Programme was a day of skill-building, student engagement, case-based learning and professional development, giving students an opportunity to explore the many dimensions of their journey as future managers.

 

The day began with an insightful session on Conflict Management Skills by Ms Deeksha Shareen, Associate Media Director – Times Network Ltd. The session encouraged students to view conflict as an opportunity for communication, collaboration and constructive problem-solving — essential skills for effective leadership.

 

The focus then shifted to student life and engagement with the School Clubs & Committees Overview, led by Dr Nandini Sinha. Students were introduced to opportunities beyond the classroom to participate, collaborate, take responsibility and develop their leadership skills.

 

Academic learning continued with Introduction to Case Method by Prof Shivprasad, introducing students to one of the most important approaches to management education — learning through real-world business situations, analysis, discussion and decision-making.

 

Students also received an orientation to ERP at PSOM, facilitated by Ms Rukmini S. and Ms Asha R, helping them become familiar with the academic and institutional systems that will support their MBA journey.

 

The afternoon focused on reflection and professional application. Through MBA Journey Mapping, conducted by Dr Sushma Muralie and Dr Sudarkodi, students were encouraged to view their MBA experience as a journey of purposeful learning, growth and transformation.

 

This was followed by Social Media for Managers, facilitated by Dr Chithambar Gupta and Dr Virupaksha, highlighting the relevance of digital presence and social media in today’s managerial and business environment.

 

The day concluded with a Bridge Session – Quants, led by Dr Jayakrishna Udupa and Dr Mudasir Raja, helping students strengthen their quantitative foundations and build confidence for the academic challenges ahead.

 

From managing conflicts to managing one’s MBA journey, from participating in campus life to understanding cases, systems and social media, Day 7 was about developing the skills that go beyond textbooks.

 

The day reinforced an important message for our students:

 

A successful manager is not defined by knowledge alone, but by the ability to communicate, collaborate, analyse, adapt and lead.
