SOM MBA Orientation Day 6: Learning, Creating & Experiencing

17-August-2026

Day 6 of the MBA Orientation Programme brought together industry insights, creative problem-solving, emerging technologies and experiential learning, giving students multiple opportunities to connect their classroom journey with the realities of the business world.

The day began with an inspiring Alumni Talk featuring Ms Aishwarya, 2020 Batch, and Mr Sreyas, 2023 Batch. Their experiences offered students a glimpse into life beyond the MBA classroom, bringing the voices of those who had once walked the same path.

The focus then shifted to Design Thinking, led by Dr Srinivas Abhilash, HOD (In Charge) – PSOD. The session encouraged students to look at problems differently, understand perse perspectives, challenge assumptions and approach solutions with creativity and empathy.

The rapidly evolving world of financial technology took centre stage with a FinTech session by Mr Fasih Abbas M., VP – Operations and CS, Big Cat Services. Students explored the changing landscape of technology-driven finance and the transformation taking place across the financial services ecosystem.

The afternoon moved into active and collaborative learning with an Experiential Marketing Game, facilitated by Dr Chithambar Gupta and Dr Virupaksha. Through this interactive experience, students had the opportunity to apply marketing concepts, make decisions, collaborate and learn by doing.

Adding another valuable dimension to the day was the Seniors’ Interaction with Dr Edwin T. S., giving students an opportunity to connect with senior students, exchange experiences and gain practical insights into navigating their MBA journey.

The day concluded with a Bridge Session – Quants, facilitated by Dr Jayakrishna Udupa and Dr Mudasir Raja, strengthening students’ quantitative foundations and preparing them for the academic challenges ahead.

From learning from alumni to thinking like designers, exploring FinTech, experiencing marketing through a game and connecting with seniors, Day 6 was a reminder that meaningful management education happens both inside and beyond the classroom.

Every session added another dimension to the students’ journey — think creatively, understand technology, learn from experience, collaborate with others and keep building.
