SOM MBA Orientation Day 12: Building Your Brand, Thinking Strategically
Day 12 of Deeksharambh 2026 focused on an essential question for every aspiring manager: how do you build a strong professional identity while developing the mindset to think strategically, negotiate effectively, collaborate and lead with purpose?
The day began with an engaging Personal Branding – LinkedIn Profiling session led by Mr Ashwin Upadhyaya, Associate Vice President – LTTS.
In today’s digitally connected professional world, personal branding has become an important part of professional development. The session encouraged students to recognise that their professional identity is shaped not only by their qualifications, but also by how they communicate their strengths, showcase their capabilities and build a credible professional presence. In this context, LinkedIn becomes more than a networking platform—it serves as a window into one’s professional identity.
The focus then shifted from building a personal brand to developing the managerial mind through Strategic Thinking, facilitated by Dr Sagi Srilalitha Girija Kumari, Associate Dean – PSOM.
The session encouraged students to look beyond immediate decisions and develop the ability to connect the dots, anticipate possibilities, analyse situations from multiple perspectives and adopt a long-term approach—essential capabilities for future managers and leaders.
Adding another dimension to management learning was Management Lessons from Mythology, led by Dr K. Krishna Kumar, Dean – PSOM. The session explored how timeless stories and narratives can offer valuable perspectives on leadership, decision-making, human behaviour, relationships, strategy and management challenges.
The day became increasingly experiential with a Negotiation Challenge, facilitated by Dr Shalini and Dr Lathangi R. Moving beyond theoretical concepts, students explored negotiation as a practical managerial skill, bringing together communication, persuasion, active listening, strategic thinking and the ability to work towards mutually beneficial outcomes.
The day concluded with an interactive Team Building session led by Dr Farhat Ali and Dr Sonal Manik Gursahani. Through collaborative learning and engaging activities, students strengthened trust, communication, coordination and team spirit.
Day 12 was about developing the complete professional—someone who can build a strong personal brand, think strategically, learn from timeless wisdom, negotiate with confidence and work effectively with others.
Because an MBA is not just about what you know.
It is about how you present yourself, how you think, how you influence, how you collaborate—and ultimately, how you lead.
Build your brand.
Think beyond the obvious.
Negotiate with purpose.
Collaborate with confidence.
Lead with impact.
