SOM MBA Orientation Day 10: Think, Adapt, Question and Reflect
Day 10 of the MBA Orientation Programme focused on developing qualities that extend beyond technical knowledge, including adaptability, critical thinking, wellbeing, ethical awareness and reflective learning.
The day began with an engaging event facilitated by Dr Mohamad Imrozuddin and Team, creating an energetic learning environment and setting the tone for a day centred on active participation and personal development.
The focus then shifted to the increasingly important capability of Agility for Managers, led by Mr Srivathsa E. S., PMP, Director – Consultancy Services at Shree PM. The session highlighted the importance of being adaptable, responsive and prepared to navigate changing business environments—qualities that are becoming increasingly essential for today's managers.
Taking a holistic approach to student development, ‘Eat Right for Life’, conducted by Dr Chetali Samant, Ayurvedic Physician, encouraged students to recognise the connection between everyday choices, personal wellbeing and sustainable performance.
The intellectual dimension of the day came alive through ‘Art of Questioning’, led by Dr P. Mary Jeyanthi. The session encouraged students to look beyond simply finding answers and develop the ability to ask meaningful questions, challenge assumptions and think more deeply—critical skills for managers, leaders and problem-solvers.
The day also placed strong emphasis on values and responsible management through ‘Ethics in Business’, led by CMA N. Raveendranath Kaushik. Students were encouraged to reflect on the importance of ethical decision-making and integrity in shaping responsible business practices.
Bringing the day's learning inward, ‘Reflective Journaling’, facilitated by Dr Farhat Ali and Dr Sonal Manik Gursahani, provided students with an opportunity to pause, reflect on their experiences and connect their learning with their personal growth and aspirations.
The day concluded with a Bridge Session – Communication, facilitated by Dr Shivani and Dr Annanya, reinforcing the importance of effective communication as a foundational skill throughout the MBA journey.
Day 10 was a reminder that management education is not only about knowing what to do—it is about knowing how to adapt, what questions to ask, what choices to make and why those choices matter.
Adaptability builds resilience.
Questions create insight.
Ethics builds trust.
Reflection creates growth.
Together, these qualities shape managers who are not only capable of navigating the business world but are also prepared to lead it.
