SOM Masterclass: Culture as Capital

26-March-2026

The School of Management at Presidency University successfully hosted an engaging masterclass on “Research Proposal and Thesis Development”, featuring a special session titled “Culture as Capital: Lessons from a Global Graduate.”

The session was delivered by Pahal Pattanaik, an Economics & Management graduate from King’s College London, who brought valuable global perspectives to the discussion.

The event explored how cultural experiences, diversity, and international exposure can be leveraged as powerful forms of capital in today’s interconnected world. Students were encouraged to view culture not merely as heritage, but as a strategic resource that enhances leadership, drives innovation, and strengthens collaboration across disciplines and geographies.

Through insightful examples and practical guidance, the session also supported students in refining their approach to research proposal writing and thesis development, integrating global outlooks into academic work.

This masterclass formed part of SOM’s continued efforts to provide students with holistic, globally relevant learning experiences that prepare them for academic excellence and professional success.
