SOM Bridges Academia and Industry Through Data Analytics

24-October-2026

The Presidency School of Management, Presidency University, Bengaluru, has initiated a Data Analytics Project in collaboration with the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) to address real-world business challenges in Karnataka’s micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) sector.

On 24 October 2026, four MBA Analytics students — Anapana Ravi, N. Nithin, Sanoop P. Nambiar and Priyanka Jadhav — selected for the project under the guidance of Dr P. Mary Jeyanthi, Professor and Area Chair – AI/ML & Analytics, visited the KASSIA office.

During the visit, Ms Kavya and Mr Manoj from the Members Department introduced the association and outlined its activities. Subsequently, Sri C. Prakash, Honorary General Secretary of KASSIA, shared valuable insights into the MSME sector, the Indian and Karnataka economies, and the project’s objectives, scope and requirements. He also illustrated key concepts with practical examples from the manufacturing industry.

Turning Analytics into Industry Impact

This experiential learning initiative enables students to bridge academic knowledge with industry practice by applying data analytics to real-world business challenges. Through systematic data collection, analysis and interpretation, the team aims to generate meaningful insights to support informed decision-making within Karnataka’s MSME ecosystem.

The students will now proceed with project planning and data collection under faculty guidance, translating analytical knowledge into practical business solutions.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Sri C. Prakash and the entire KASSIA team for their warm hospitality, valuable insights and continued support. We also express our appreciation to Dr P.

Mary Jeyanthi and Dr Ramesh Muthuswamy for guiding and mentoring the students throughout this industry-oriented initiative.

Together, we are strengthening industry–academia collaboration and empowering future professionals to create meaningful, data-driven impact.
