As part of Radio City 91.1 FM's popular Campus FM initiative, university students are provided with a unique platform to share their experiences, perspectives, and aspirations with a wider audience. As part of this initiative, students from the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SOLAS), Presidency University, were invited to participate in a special recording session at the Radio City studio on 24 June 2026.

 

The opportunity was extended to members of the Speakers and Anchors Club, a student-led platform established by SOLAS to nurture communication, public speaking, and leadership skills. The visit gave students first-hand exposure to the workings of a professional radio station while providing an opportunity to represent their University and academic discipline on a public platform.

 

During the session, the students shared their experiences of university life, highlighting the vibrant academic environment and the wide range of opportunities available for personal and professional growth at Presidency University. They spoke about their involvement in clubs, events, workshops, and co-curricular activities that have contributed significantly to their overall development.

 

A key focus of the discussion was the relevance of Liberal Arts education in today's world. The students explained how the interdisciplinary nature of Liberal Arts programmes equips learners with critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, creativity, and collaboration skills that are increasingly valued in the twenty-first-century workplace. They also highlighted how the curriculum fosters intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a holistic understanding of complex global challenges.

 

The interaction provided students with an excellent opportunity to express their ideas in a professional media environment, strengthening their confidence and communication skills. The visit also served as a valuable platform to showcase the strengths of Liberal Arts education and the dynamic learning ecosystem at Presidency University.
