The Department of Psychology at Presidency University’s School of Liberal Arts and Sciences successfully hosted a seminar on ‘AI Simulation for Cognitive Research’ on 28 August 2026. The day-long programme brought together students, faculty members and distinguished experts to explore the growing intersection of artificial intelligence and cognitive science.

The seminar featured insightful sessions by Dr Nithin Nagaraj, Professor and Head of the Consciousness Studies Programme at NIAS, who spoke on computational approaches to consciousness and cognition; Mr Anand Bharadwaj BV, State Programme Manager at Sanjeevini-KSRLPS, who shared perspectives on technology-driven social impact; and Ms Nisha Robin Rohit, Assistant Professor of CSE at Presidency University, who offered a technical perspective on deep learning and natural language processing (NLP) applications in research.

The seminar sparked engaging discussions among M.Sc and B.Sc Psychology students on how AI simulation techniques can be integrated into cognitive and behavioural research, opening new avenues for interdisciplinary thinking. Participants gained a deeper appreciation of how computational modelling, machine learning and consciousness studies are converging to shape the future of psychological research.
