The Presidency School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SOLAS), Presidency University, successfully conducted its inaugural IELTS Masterclass on 2 September 2026. The session marked the commencement of a series of IELTS Masterclasses planned for the semester, aimed at providing students with structured guidance and practical preparation for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The masterclass was conducted by Ms Sathi Chakraborty from IDP IELTS, who served as the IELTS Master Trainer for the session. Drawing on her expertise in IELTS training, Ms Chakraborty introduced participants to the structure and requirements of the examination and shared valuable insights into effective preparation strategies. The session familiarised students with the nature of the test, its assessment criteria and the competencies required to perform effectively in an international English language proficiency examination.

The programme was organised as an open learning initiative, allowing interested students to participate and gain a clearer understanding of IELTS and its relevance to higher education, international mobility and global career opportunities.

This inaugural session is the first in a series of IELTS Masterclasses scheduled for the semester. The forthcoming sessions will provide focused training in each of the four core language skills assessed in IELTS: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (LSRW). These skill-specific masterclasses will help students understand the demands of each component of the examination while developing practical strategies to enhance their performance.

Through this series, the Presidency School of Liberal Arts and Sciences aims to strengthen students' English language proficiency and equip them with the skills and confidence required to pursue academic and professional opportunities internationally.
