SOLAS FDP: Experiential Learning for Multidisciplinary Teaching-Day2
The Presidency School of Liberal Arts & Sciences, Presidency University, organised day 2 of the Faculty Development Programme on 11th February 2026 titled “Assessing the Unseen: How to Evaluate Reflections, Creativity and Growth,” delivered by Dr. Nandini Sinha, Associate Professor, Presidency School of Management.
The session addressed a crucial concern in contemporary higher education, how to meaningfully assess dimensions of learning that extend beyond conventional examinations. Dr. Sinha encouraged participants to rethink assessment as a reflective and developmental process rather than merely a tool for grading. Through engaging activities such as reflective writing exercises, analysis of sample student responses, collaborative rubric design, and small-group discussions, faculty members explored practical strategies to evaluate experiential learning outcomes with clarity and fairness. The interactive format fostered rich dialogue around authenticity, subjectivity, and growth-oriented feedback, prompting educators to consider how assessment practices can better capture creativity, critical thinking, and personal transformation.
The FDP concluded with participants expressing a renewed commitment to designing assessments that value depth, reflection, and meaningful student engagement.
