SOLAS Celebrates Shakespeare’s 462nd Birthday in Grand Style

22-April-2026

The School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SoLAS) at Presidency University marked the 462nd birth anniversary of William Shakespeare on 22 April 2026 with great enthusiasm and grandeur, celebrating the timeless legacy of the world’s greatest dramatist.

The event came alive through captivating stage performances by our talented students. Iconic scenes such as the Balcony Scene from Romeo and Juliet and the delightful Ass-Headed Man episode from A Midsummer Night’s Dream were brought to life with remarkable energy and finesse. Adding further depth to the celebration were students’ powerful renditions of Shakespeare’s female characters, showcasing their strength, emotion and enduring relevance.

The occasion was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Mr Salman Ahmad, Vice-President, Presidency Group of Institutions; Dr Anu Sukhdev, Dean, DSA; Dr B. N. Venkata Girish, Director – Strategy, Incubation and Industry Consultancy; and Dr Pritha Sanyal, Head, SoLAS. Their presence added great significance to the celebration.

This vibrant event not only honoured Shakespeare’s enduring influence but also highlighted the rich literary and theatrical spirit of SoLAS.
