The School of Law, Presidency University, successfully organised the International Conference on “Intellectual Property in the Climate and Sustainability Agenda” in collaboration with Queen Mary University of London and Texas A&M University on 24–25 April 2026. Day 1 commenced with an inaugural ceremony graced by eminent dignitaries, including Prof. Dr Julia Hörnle, Queen Mary University of London, as the Keynote Speaker, and Justice V. Ramasubramanian, Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony featured distinguished addresses from leading academicians, policymakers, and industry experts. This was followed by panel discussions on “Intellectual Property and Climate Innovation: Opportunities and Challenges” and “Emerging Technologies, Data Governance, and Sustainability,” alongside technical sessions on “Circular Economy and IPR” and “Digital and Data Governance for Climate Equity.” The sessions brought together diverse perspectives on innovation, data governance, and the role of intellectual property in addressing climate challenges.

Day 2 continued with engaging academic deliberations through technical sessions on “IPR and Sustainable/Green Technology” and “IP, Climate Justice, and Access,” followed by Panel Discussion III on “Rethinking Global IP Regimes for a Sustainable Future.” The conference concluded with a valedictory session graced by Justice Dinesh Maheshwari, Chairman, Law Commission of India, as the Chief Guest, and Dr Justice Ashok B. Hinchigeri, Chairman, Law Commission of Karnataka, as the Guest of Honour. The session also featured the release of the first edition of the Presidency School of Law Newsletter (June 2025 – December 2025), along with the announcement of Best Presentation Awards. The two-day conference marked a successful culmination of insightful discussions, fostering academic exchange and collaboration at the intersection of intellectual property, innovation, and sustainability.
