SOIS Inaugurates CSI Student Chapter
The Presidency School of Information Science (PSIS), Presidency University, Bengaluru, inaugurated the Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter on 28 August 2026 at Seminar Hall 2, F Block. The programme, organised in association with the CSI Bangalore Chapter, brought together university leadership, faculty members, students and invited guests to mark the establishment of the student chapter as a platform for technical learning, professional networking and knowledge sharing.
The inauguration featured a special address by Dr R. Mahalakshmi, Dean, SOIS, and a presidential address by Dr S. Sivaperumal, Pro Vice-Chancellor, followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest and Dr Bhanumathi K. S., Former Scientist, Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), Bengaluru. Dr Bhanumathi delivered an expert talk titled “Empowering India's Youth – Enabling Innovation and Entrepreneurship”, highlighting the importance of innovation, continuous learning, problem-solving, professional skills and applying academic knowledge to real-world challenges. The programme also included the distribution of CSI Membership ID Cards to three students and an interactive question-and-answer session.
The event provided students with valuable exposure to professional perspectives on technology, research, innovation and entrepreneurship, while encouraging them to develop creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and career-readiness skills. The newly established CSI Student Chapter is expected to support future workshops, seminars, competitions, technical activities and industry interactions, strengthening opportunities for students to engage with professionals, researchers and technology experts.
