SOIS Hosts 5-Day FDP on MERN & Java Full Stack Development

The School of Information Science, Master of Computer Applications, Presidency University, successfully organised a five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “MERN & Java Full Stack Development for Scalable Web Applications” from 13th to 17th July 2026. The programme aimed to strengthen faculty expertise in modern full-stack web development and bridge the gap between academic learning and industry practices. The sessions were led by experienced industry professionals and combined expert lectures, live demonstrations, interactive discussions and hands-on laboratory activities.

 

The FDP covered a comprehensive range of topics, including MERN stack architecture, Node.js, Express.js, React.js, MongoDB, RESTful APIs, Git and GitHub, Java Full Stack Development, Spring Boot, MySQL and application deployment. Participants gained practical exposure to developing scalable frontend and backend applications, database integration and enterprise application architecture. The resource persons included Er. Mayur Hegde, Er. Nagasankar Chinnakotla, Er. Rahul Raj and Er. Gowtham, who brought valuable industry experience and practical insights to the programme.

 

The programme successfully enhanced participants’ technical and pedagogical competencies, with faculty members gaining hands-on experience in industry-standard development tools, frameworks and workflows. The FDP also strengthened their understanding of current industry trends and best practices, enabling them to integrate industry-relevant full-stack development concepts into classroom teaching and student projects. The programme concluded with practical activities, project demonstrations and discussions on deployment strategies and career opportunities, and was well received by the participating faculty members.
